An Evening of Jazz and Poetry featuring the Yoko Suzuki Trio and Thomas Wendt Quintet presented by MCG Jazz and City of Asylum

  • Hazelwood Green 4734 Second Avenue Pittsburgh, PA, 15207 United States (map)

An evening of jazz + spoken word hosted in partnership between MCG Jazz and City of Asylum. This is a unique collaboration exploring the creative intersection of music, art, and poetry. This event is part of City Theatre’s Drive-In Arts Festival.

In response to the struggles musicians were experiencing due to the pandemic, MCG Jazz created the Musicians Performance Fund to engage musicians to either compose new music or create new arrangements for an ensemble of regional artists. Two of the ensembles will be featured tonight:  Yoko Suzuki Trio will perform  a mix of original music and new arrangements of standards; the Thomas Wendt Quartet is a reimagining of legendary tenor saxophonist Lucky Thompson’s original music.
