A field for dreams: Steelers, Richard King Mellon Foundation to partner on youth sports complex at Hazelwood Green

At a Hazelwood site built on steel, the Pittsburgh Steelers are eyeing a new field — but not for their pro team.

The Steelers are partnering with the Richard King Mellon Foundation and developer Tishman Speyer to build a youth sports complex and community field at Hazelwood Green, the former LTV coke works site.

At its completion, the state-of-the-art complex will be used for youth football, boys and girls flag football, football clinics featuring current and former Steelers players and coaches, soccer games and clinics, and other activities.
