NASA selected Carnegie Mellon to lead a research team housed at Hazelwood Green’s Mill 19 to focus on new ways to build and power aircrafts of the future

Through NASA’s University Leadership Initiative, Carnegie Mellon University was selected to lead a research team housed at Hazelwood Green’s Mill 19 to focus on new ways to build and power aircrafts of the future. CMU’s Next Manufacturing Center and Manufacturing Futures Initiative (MFI) are at the leading edge of this new frontier in aviation making use of the flexibility in design and customization, cost reduction, and speed of additive manufacturing (aka 3D printing) lends itself to optimizing and problem solving in aviation industry.
